Derby Entrepreneurship Center awarded $1 million grant from Cummings Foundation!
Derby Entrepreneurship is excited to share that DEC has been awarded a 10-year, $1 Million sustaining grant from Cummings Foundation’s $30 Million Grant Program. The $30 Million Grant Program awards $30M to 150 nonprofits every year – and DEC has been selected to win a ten-year grant!
A heartfelt thank you to Bill and Joyce Cummings and the Cummings Foundation for for placing their trust in us and supporting our quest to build entrepreneurial leaders at Tufts.
We kicked off the Tufts Venture Accelerator 2024 with ten teams working on ventures spanning medtech / healthcare, software SaaS, fashion and social enterprises in emerging markets. We started with a bootcamp where we reviewed the business fundamentals of every team, who are revisiting their market segmentation and selection and continuing to push forward on primary market research.
July 11th marks the midpoint of our ten-week program. Teams will deliver their venture pitch ventures to 100+ audience members in person and over Zoom. Join us and see what our teams are working on!
DEC collaborated with Tufts Entrepreneurial Network (TEN) and the Office of Alumni Engagement (OAE) to host The Tufts Entrepreneurial Network 2024 Boston Summer Kickoff on Thursday, June 20th at Aeronaut Brewing Co. in Somerville. Good conversation was enjoyed and connections were made as Tufts alumni enjoyed cool refreshments on a hot summer night.

Tufts to host Cross University Mixer (CUSI) - July 11
