Montle Prize - Recipients Announced!
Paul Montle (Class of 1969) created the Montle Prize for Entrepreneurial Achievement to commend outstanding undergraduate Tufts students who demonstrate entrepreneurial skills. We are excited to announce this year's recipients:
“The Senior Award” ($15,000) – Theo Henry, E23
“Most Progress in a New Venture” ($10,000) – Artem Dinh, E23
“Best Demonstration of Grit ($10,000) – Paloma Velasco, A23
This award is for undergraduate students with an entrepreneurial mindset and skillset, acquired through entrepreneurship courses, co-curricular events, competitions, and/or from experience working either individually or in a team on a new venture. This award is offered through the Derby Entrepreneurship Center (DEC)
Jumbo Magazine Highlights Entrepreneurship at Tufts
The Fall 2022 edition of the Jumbo magazine contained a feature on entrepreneurship education at Tufts, spotlighting the variety of courses available through the Derby Entrepreneurship Center.
Tufts Venture Accelerator 2022 team, Scope Tennis, recently raised $500k in pre-seed funding as they prepare for their upcoming beta test and launch. Scope Tennis, founded by Laurent Isnard and Maximilian Stehling, is a fan engagement platform that runs on a blockchain and uses NFTs as player cards.
Alex Rappaport and Natalie Rubio Selected to Prestigious Forbes 30 Under 30
Alex Rappaport, E17, EG 19, past Tufts $100k New Ventures Competition winner, and Cofounder of ZwitterCo was named to the 2023 Manufacturing and Industry list for his company's innovative work in wastewater filtration.
Natalie Rubio EG22, was named to the 2023 Science list for her efforts in advancing cellular agriculture, including her research and experience in growing cells for cultivated meat.
We applaud Natalie and Alex for their contributions towards a sustainable future!
Brittany Sokoloff named as Partner in the complex litigation group at ArentFox Schiff
Brittany Sokoloff, A11 was recently named as one of 13 new partners at ArentFox Schiff, effective January 1, 2023. Brittany graduated with a minor in Entrepreneurship and is active in the Tufts Entrepreneurial Network, an alumni group associated with the Derby Entreprneurship Center.
Merck KGaA Hosting Innovation Cup Summer Camp • Apply by Jan. 31
The Innovation Cup is an initiative for post-graduate students in natural sciences, computer sciences, and business administration to attend a training program near Frankfurt, Germany. All travel, food and accommodation expenses are paid.
This challenge will increase availability and access to capital for new and existing private companies, which are developing solutions for global health, mental health, and sustainability.
This monthly event is led byHAX investment partners and founders focused on relevant knowledge for hard tech entrepreneurs. We'll cover lessons and best practices across a different technical topic each month (everything from best practices for low-fidelity prototyping to how to build a B2B sales pipeline for hard tech), and field questions from the audience. We welcome anyone who aspires to build hard tech and wants to learn from our experiences.
